South Africa
AI LMS for education and training organisations in South Africa
South Africa has the largest and most institutionally developed training market on the continent, and an unusual amount of it is driven by statutory skills funding. Employers pay a skills development levy, sector authorities disburse it, and accredited providers deliver against it — which means a significant share of buyers are accountable for reported outcomes rather than merely interested in them. Alongside that sit TVET colleges, private higher education, professional-body tuition and a matric-support market that is largely private and results-driven.
Who this is for in South Africa
Accredited skills providers
Delivering levy-funded training and accountable for learner records and outcome reporting to a sector authority.
TVET and private colleges
Large cohorts, throughput pressure, and a real need to identify at-risk learners early enough to act.
Professional-body tuition providers
Chartered accountancy and similar qualifications, where pass rates are published and competitive.
Matric support and private tuition
National Senior Certificate preparation, where past-paper practice and per-learner weak-area analysis are the core of the offer.

Regulation and data protection in South Africa
These obligations generally sit with your institution rather than with us as a software supplier. They are listed because they shape what a platform has to do — not as a claim that buying software discharges them.
POPIA
The Protection of Personal Information Act sets conditions for lawful processing and, in section 72, governs transfers of personal information outside South Africa. That section is the one to read when evaluating any offshore platform.
Information Regulator
The supervisory authority for POPIA, including breach notification. Your vendor contract should specify how and how quickly you would be informed of an incident.
QCTO and Umalusi
Occupational and general/further education qualifications are quality-assured by separate councils with their own assessment and record-keeping conditions.
Where your data is held
We do not operate a South African region today. Hosting arrangements and the sub-processor list are set out in the DPA before signature — which is the material point under POPIA section 72, since the lawfulness of a cross-border transfer depends on the terms binding the recipient.

Reporting and accreditation
SETAs
Sector Education and Training Authorities disburse skills-levy funding and require learner and outcome records from accredited providers. Whatever platform you use must produce records that survive that scrutiny.
QCTO
The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations sets assessment requirements for occupational qualifications.
Support hours and billing
Time-zone overlap
South African Standard Time is 3 hours 30 minutes behind India, so the working days overlap substantially. A question raised in your morning is answered the same day.
Billing & payment
Invoicing in USD, with ZAR quotes available for comparison. Card payments run through Stripe and PayPal. We do not support South African instant-EFT gateways, so most institutional customers are invoiced against a purchase order. VAT treatment depends on your entity.

Questions we get from South Africa
Does the platform meet POPIA requirements?
POPIA obligations sit with you as the responsible party. Our role is to be an operator whose contractual terms support them, which the DPA sets out — including the cross-border transfer terms that section 72 makes material.
Can it produce records for SETA reporting?
Learner, assessment and progress records are held and exportable. It does not generate SETA submissions directly — check the export format against your sector authority’s requirements before committing.
Does it work with poor or intermittent connectivity?
Yes. Course content can be downloaded for offline study and progress syncs when the connection returns, which matters for learners outside metro fibre coverage.
Which languages are supported?
English, plus Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. No South African language beyond English is supported — no isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans. For English-medium provision that is not usually a constraint, but it is worth knowing before you evaluate.
